• Contour-Oss is a graft designed specifically for contour augmentation techniques and often referred to as ‘veneer’ grafting. Historically, low substitution rate bone grafts such as xenografts have been favored to hold long term volume without fear of resorption, especially in thin buccal bone conditions. One of the disadvantages of xenografts however is they contain no growth factors/proteins/collagen within their matrix owing to their sintering/cooking techniques during processing to remove prions.
• Owing to the patented technology of non-resorbable bone allograft (NRBA) which allows for long-term maintenance, the NRBA can replace the use of xenografts and because the technology comes from the same donor, can be further mixed with standard allografts. Contour-Oss is composed of 75% NRBA which replaces the need for xenografts, while the remaining 25% is composed of standard DFDBA which allows for faster release of BMPs from within the graft while maintaining dimensional ridge stability owing to its 75% composition of NRBA.
• This allows clinicians to use Contour-Oss in a similar fashion to xenografts for contour augmentation, but instead this graft contains 25% DFDBA which releases most effectively BMPs to help facilitate and generate new bone.
• These grafts come in 3 sizes, 0.5CC, 1CC, and 2CC versions.
